Our app helps them drive performance improvements in the knowledge, skills and behaviours - or competencies - of their people. So whether it’s learners, governors, teachers, players, coaches or recruits in basic training, the principle is largely the same.

But it’s now time to spread the word - and so we’re looking for a best-in-class Head of Content Marketing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design & execute the digital marketing strategy to profitably drive lead generation, reporting to the co-founder(s)
  • To lead and drive forward our content marketing journey, telling multiple versions of the Competence ‘story’ to our target markets
  • Operate and execute daily on (paid & organic) social, search, email, SEO, referral and partnerships
  • Deeply understand target customers to successfully create highly engaging, shareable, on-brand content of all types
  • Use Hubspot as the fundamental toolset to drive and report upon your efforts
  • Provide regular performance overviews & forecasts
  • Stay ahead of key trends, best practices and competitive landscape


  • Experience (minimum 3 years) and success in scaling a performance marketing approach
  • Experience across paid and organic social, search, email, SEO, website and partnerships
  • You are ideally working at or with a high growth start-up in performance marketing and growth
  • You have the magical trilogy of ‘part economist, part psychologist, part creative’
  • You ‘Own It’ - no job is beneath you & you will do what it takes to get things done
  • You are ‘compelled to care about performance’, leading by example, setting high standards to delight customers
  • You want to be ‘trusted by the best in their fields’, working as well in teams and multi-stakeholder environments as you do individually 
  • You are ambitious and agile, a problem solver by nature
  • You are demonstrably interested in the idea of group performance improvement
