Who are "Competence Development Ltd" and what is "Competence"?
Competence Development Ltd is honoured to hold the exclusive licence to deliver training and education under the prestigious Wigan Warriors brand. This unique partnership allows us to offer not only elite gym and fitness programmes but also a robust educational curriculum designed to instil critical employability skills. Our programmes are thoughtfully designed to reflect the competitive spirit and discipline of Wigan Warriors with practical learning and personal development.
To seamlessly manage and enhance the delivery of our programmes, we have developed 'Competence' – our own app tailored to support both educators and learners in achieving their goals. This innovative platform stands as a cornerstone of our educational philosophy, ensuring a structured, accessible, and effective progression for each participant. With 'Competence', tracking progress, accessing materials, and communicating with trainers and peers becomes an effortless part of the learning and training experience.
What is 'fully funded' training?
Fully funded courses are designed to provide adults aged 19 and above with the opportunity to receive free training and education through vocational qualifications. These qualifications exist across the Active Leisure industry and are an ideal way to follow your passion or have a change in career.
Who is eligible for fully funded training?
To be eligible you must live in the Greater Manchester area and have the right to work in the UK. To complete either course, you must have evidence of working to a minimum of Level 2.
What is 'commercial' training?
These are training courses paid for by you (if you do not meet the criteria for full funding), to help you upskill, retrain or simply to have more awareness in the areas you are passionate about.
Who is eligible for commercial training?
Anyone over the age of 16.
What's the next step after I complete the course?
On completion of the course, you will have the necessary qualifications to work as a Gym Instructor for example, and are guaranteed an interview with any relevant position advertised by Wigan Council as part of the Job Ready scheme. Furthermore, you will be eligible to apply for other courses such as our Level 3 in Personal Training course.
